Summer is flying by, but with the help of our August local events roundup, you’ll be able to savor the time that’s left.

We do our best to post events on social media, and you can Like us on Facebook and follow on Twitter to stay current with the latest news. But it’s also helpful to have a listing of each month’s events, so that you can review the options available and decide which to attend.

The events below are listed in approximate chronological order.

In this FREE, registration-required event, children with special needs and their families can visit the Museum, explore, and play without the crowds and over-stimulation.

Via Charleston County Parks: “People with special needs and their families and caregivers are invited down the rabbit hole for an Alice in Wonderland themed dance party! The book is stuffed with food, so the Queen of Hearts will make sure to have snacks and refreshments for you.”

Admission is just $4 per person for Charleston County residents, and $5 for non-residents.

Creating Social Stories

Via SC Autism Society: “Since students with ASD are extremely visual, social stores can help alleviate difficult behaviors, anxiety, stress and the unknown. In this workshop, we will discuss how to create a social story and we will also go over free and low-cost resources where you can find social stories that are pre-made. Bring your own computer or iPad if available.”

RSVP to attend this FREE workshop from the SC Autism Society on Thursday, August 27, 2015 from 10am – 12pm.
