Michael Volkert is a resident physician in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina. He completed his undergraduate training at Pennsylvania State University, where he majored in psychology with an emphasis on neuroscience. He then attended Temple University Medical School in Philadelphia and completed his clinical rotations at Geisinger Hospital in Danville, PA. Currently, he is involved in working with Dr. Frampton Gwynette measuring outcomes for participants of the Autism News Network. After completing his residency training in adult psychiatry, he plans to pursue a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry. In addition to autism, his professional areas of interest include anxiety disorders, psychopharmacology, and cognitive behavioral therapy.
